The research centre is home to several third-party funded projects on medieval art, which share resources and engage in academic exchange.

The books, photo collections and notes on book illumination held in the Pächt Archive come from the academic legacies of Otto Pächt (1902-1988), Gerhard Schmidt (1924-2010), Herbert Köllner (1926-1988) and Ulrike Jenni (1945-2020). They are used for the realisation of the research projects on medieval book illumination initiated by Pächt and led by him and Schmidt over decades.

Books and separata can be consulted on site; the photo collections are digitised and accessible online by members of the University of Vienna and its partner institutions (UNIDAM). Archivalien (Letters and lecture notes by Otto Pächt were lent to the Archive of the Department of Art History. The Pächt family will also be happy to provide information on the materials (Viola Pächt: VIOLAPACHT@GMAIL.COM; +49 152 22587102).
