Student Mobility

There are a variety of mobility programs available for students of the university to study, conduct research, or work abroad. Information about these programs can be found on the homepage of the International Office of the University of Vienna (Student Mobility).

An overview of programs for international students who wish to pursue a study or research stay at the university can be found here.

Erasmus Study Abroad (Outgoing)

As part of the ERASMUS program, bachelor's students from the third semester onward (after completing STEOP and Case Study I) and master's students from the first semester onward have the opportunity to spend a semester or an academic year (3–12 months) at a European partner university. Detailed information about available programs, deadlines, requirements, proof of language proficiency, academic performance expectations, grant amounts, application procedures, etc., can be found here. A list of available spots is provided on the Mobility Online portal. Answers to some frequently asked questions can be found here (German only).

For preliminary consultation and application review, the Erasmus coordinators of the Institute of Art History are available. They are also responsible for the nominations: Ass.-Prof. Dr. Sandra Hindriks, MA (Belgium, France, United Kingdom, Ireland, Netherlands, Switzerland) and Mag. Dr. Gernot Mayer (Germany, Finland, Italy, Poland, Romania, Spain, Czech Republic, Hungary).

As part of the Erasmus exchange program, academically relevant examinations that are equivalent in content, scope, and assessment methods can be recognized. To receive the grant, a minimum of 3 ECTS credits per month must be earned and recognized by the home university (30 ECTS credits per semester are recommended). Please send a list of the courses you plan to attend at the partner university and the courses in Vienna for which you seek recognition in the form of a study plan (list) to the program director (christine.beier@univie.ac.at). After the plan has been approved, you can enter the details into the "Learning Agreement before mobility" in Mobility Online. The "Learning Agreement after the Mobility" will also be generated there, which, along with the transcript from the host university, must be submitted to the program director for recognition no later than two months after the exchange period. Please schedule an appointment for this (christine.beier@univie.ac.at) or call +43 1 4277-41464 or -41433.
