1978–1983: Research project in Rome (Austrian Science Fund (FWF) and Austrian Academy of Sciences)

1985: Habilitation at the University of Vienna

Since 1985: Teaching assignments at the University of Vienna

1984–1999: Head of the architectural department of the Graphic Art Collection of the Albertina museum, Vienna

1997: Honorary title of associate professor, 1999: corresponding member of the Austrian Academy of Sciences and Accademico di benemerito of the National Academy of Saint Luca, Rome

Since 1999: Director of the Istituto Storico Austriaco Roma (Austrian historical institute Rome) at the Forum Austriaco di Cultura (Austrian cultural forum in Rome)
