Dr. Luise Reitstätter is a cultural scientist. Her fields of work include practices of contemporary art, visual and material culture analysis, museology and exhibition studies as well as empirical methods in social research. In 2013, she completed her doctorate with a study on the exhibition as a potential sphere of action in sociology and cultural studies ("Die Ausstellung verhandeln", transcript 2015). Since then she has worked in numerous research projects, for example on rural images of longing (“Stadt-Land-Kind”, “Stadt-Land-Bild”), language and inclusion in museums ("Say it simple. Say it out loud"), digital art education ("personal.curator") or Commons movements ("AXIOM", “Commons as a Way of Thinking and Innovation Strategy in Design”). Since November 2017 she works as a post-doc at the Department of Art History at the University of Vienna, where she heads the Laboratory for Cognitive Research in Art History (CReA). From September 2020 to August 2022 she is leading the third-party funded research project “Right to the Museum?“ as part of her habilitation.
