Pablo Fontoura is a postdoctoral researcher at the Laboratory for Cognitive Research in Art History (CReA Lab), University of Vienna, where he studies the perception of conservation of works of art on paper and paintings. He holds a PhD from the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales (EHESS), completed in collaboration with the Centre de Recherche et de Restauration des Musées de France (C2RMF–Louvre), where he studied the perception of painting conservation in museum settings with a focus on Matthias Grünewald’s Isenheim Altarpiece. He also holds BAs in Art History and Archaeology and in Communication and Information Sciences, and MSc degrees in Communication and Information Sciences and in Philosophy. His research centers on the visual perception of artworks, particularly conserved and restored works, eye-tracking methods, and museum studies.
