The War of Narratives. The State and Prospects of Ukrainian Art History.

Stefaniia Demchuk (Taras Shevchenko National University, Kyiv / Masaryk University, Brno)

The Kunsthistorische Gesellschaft would like to cordially invite researchers,
students and interested lay people to Stefaniia Demchuk's talk on Ukrainian
art history on Wednesday, June 15th, 6:00 pm (cum tempore) in
Seminar Room 1, Department of Art History.

Stefaniia Demchuk is one of the first generation of art history researchers who graduated from the Taras Shevchenko National University in Kiew after the Ukrainian Declaration of Independence in 1991. In her talk she will trace the development of Ukrainian art history and its endeavours to break free from the narratives of Tsarist Russia and the Soviet era, as well as outlining what the future could hold for the discipline.

This lecture is part of the summer semester lecture series of the Kunsthistorische Gesellschaft.
