The University of Vienna appoints a project assistant (30 hours/week) in the research project “Exhibitions of Modern European Painting 1905-1915” (project leader: Prof. Raphael Rosenberg, Department of Art History, funded by the FWF – Austrian Science Fund).
The project collects and lists in a database as extensively as possible information about exhibitions that took place in Europe between 1905 and 1915 with works of living artists. This is a time when a large amount of “Avantgarde”-movements were formed and/or presented in exhibitions. We want to study with quantitative and qualitative methods the geographic distribution and the networks of modern painting, the chronology and geography of exhibiting new artistic forms, the propagation of “-isms”, the exhibition strategies of artists, and the discourses that accompanied exhibitions of modern art (see: http:://exhibitions.univie.ac.at/).
